DELTA TOWNSHIP, MI – On Friday, December 12th, 2014 at 9:05pm Eaton County Deputies from the Delta Patrol responded to a felony domestic incident in Delta Township. The female suspect had assaulted a family member with an ax.
When deputies arrived the suspect drove by the house. The deputies proceeded after her and a short pursuit ensued the suspect eventually stopped after being confronted with stop sticks.
The suspect then struck two patrol cars with her car. Deputies had to break out a window to her car to place her under arrest. The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office credits deputies with being able to take this violent suspect off the street with no one else being injured. There was only minor damage done to the two Eaton County patrol cars.
The suspect is 55-year-old Cheryl Ann Gootee. She was arraigned in 56th District Court on Decembr 15th, 2014 in front of Judge Reincke.
Gootee was charged by the Eaton County Prosecutors Office on charges of:
- Fleeing/Eluding Police 3rd degree
- Malicious Destruction of Property to police property
- Resist and obstruct police
- Assault w/dangerous weapon
- Possession of Marijuana.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty.
