Alpena area Man dies in House Fire (Updated)

OSSINEKE, MI – A fire broke out around 3:30pm on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 in Sanborn Township on Park Road.  An Alpena area man was killed in that fire.103 Park Road, Ossineke, MI

Fire crews from Sanborn Township were called to the residence at 103 Park Road when a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the structure and called 911.

The three alarm fire required assistance from Hubbard Lake and Alpena Township Fire Departments.

Once firefighters got the fire under control they entered the home to find the victim 63-year-old Randy Stark.  It is believed that he died from smoke inhalation.  No one else was home at the time of the fire.

Mr. Stark was a long time resident of Ossineke.

The home was heavily damaged.  The living room and kitchen were completely destroyed.

Michigan State Police and the Fire Marshall were on scene Wednesday morning trying to determine what sparked the blaze.  It is believed that the fire started in the living room.  The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.


November 23, 1951 – December 16, 2014

Randy Paul Stark, 63, of 103 Park Road, Ossineke, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at his home.Randy Paul Stark

Randy was born November 23, 1951 in Alpena to the late Clarence and Delores (Gagne) Stark.  He worked at Abitibi/DPI for 36 years and retired in 2010 due to health reasons.  Randy was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan.  His prized possession was his 1970 Mach 1 Mustang and his Corvette, taking numerous car show trophies.  He loved his dog, Gussy, and enjoyed taking him for rides and walks at South Point Beach.

Randy is survived by his son, Corey and Nicole Stark; grandchildren, Kelley, Macy, Carter Stark; sisters, Lynn and Greg Kirchoff, Jackie and Vernon Langlois; brother, Gary and Cathy Stark; several nieces, nephews; close friends including, Tommy and Denise Walters of Colorado, Colette, Norb and Dan Hinrichs of Ossineke, Mark and Brydi Haugerud of Ossineke, Bill and Diana Estlack of Ossineke, Sherry and Jim Robinette, and many others.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Stark.

Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral home on Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until the memorial service at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack Williams officiating.
