KALAMAZOO, MI – On Tuesday, December 16th, 2014, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer Ariana Gasca observed a female driving down Florence Street, operating a golf cart.
Officer Gasca thought this was an odd sight at eight in the morning, so she pulled up to the female and asked if she would talk with her. The 23-year-old Kalamazoo resident pulled the cart over to speak with Officer Gasca.
During the conversation, Officer Gasca was told a friend had given her the golf cart to drive. Officer Gasca located items on the golf cart, showing possible ownership to a local apartment complex. Dispatch quickly confirmed the golf cart had been recently stolen.
The female was arrested and brought down to Kalamazoo Public Safety Headquarters for the booking process. Officer Gasca learned, the more time she had spent with this female, that she was possibly intoxicated as well. A series of sobriety tests were given.
The 23-year-old female was arrested on numerous charges to include; Unlawfully Driving Away a Vehicle, Operating While Intoxicated, Driving on a Suspended License, Obstruction by Disguise, and two valid warrants for her arrest.
