Huron Township Police Department’s Shop with a Cop Event

HURON TOWNSHIP, MI – On Wednesday December 17th, 2014, The Huron Township Police Department was honored to participate in the Shop with a Cop Program. Chief

They got to spend the evening with Tyler, Alex, Emily, Caleb, Christian and Isabelle. They are some amazing young people who they had a great time getting to know. They are what Christmas is all about.

They started the evening off by pairing each child with a Huron Township Police Officer and a generous volunteer. Each child got a private ride in a Police Car to have a night out shopping.

Their first stop was Dick’s Sporting Goods on Eureka Road in Taylor. Each Child got a new pair of shoes. It was priceless when they didn’t want to take the shoes off and asked if they could wear them out of the store. Of course, they obliged.

They then traveled to the Walmart Supercenter on Allen Road in Woodhaven where we each kid got to go on a shopping spree, not only for themselves, but their family as well. Special thanks to Justin and Jeffy (Walmart Employees) who went out of their way to make sure the kids were well taken care of.

They concluded the evening with some pizza and gift wrapping. Each child took wrapped gifts home for their family to open on Christmas morning.

Each child also got a brand new winter coat courtesy of Melissa and Jerry Chapp and the Huron Township Good Fellows.

Both families received a Meijer Gift Card to help with a great Christmas Dinner.
