Portage Car vs Bicycle Accident may have Alcohol to Blame


PORTAGE, MI – On December 21st, 2014 at 5:52 p.m., Portage Department of Public Safety units were dispatched to the intersection of Sprinkle Road and Meredith on a car vs. bicycle injury accident. Bicycle Accident

Once on scene, officers learned that a northbound vehicle on Sprinkle Road struck a bicyclist, who was attempting to traverse the intersection via the crosswalk.




The subject on the bike, a 54-year-old Portage man, was transported to Bronson Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Based on witness statements and evidence discovered at the scene, alcohol use on the part of the bicyclist appears to have contributed to the collision.
