One of those teens, a 16-year-old female, Paige Stalker was shot in the back of the head and killed. She was a junior at University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods. Three others, a 16-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl all received gunshot wounds.

The shooting took place on Detroit’s east side near the intersection of Phillip and Charlevoix Street just across the line from Grosse Pointe. The area is not well lit and there are few homes in the area.
Reports are that some type of altercation lead up to the shooting. Police have stated that the teens were on their way to the movies when they stopped and were smoking marijuana. That is when they were fired upon by the gunman. Four of the five individuals in the vehicle were hit by bullets. The fifth person was not injured.
It is reported that police are looking for a male African-American gunman who is approximately 6 feet tall, who had on a black hat, had on a bullet proof vest and fatigues and who was in an older model light tan Cadillac.
The gunman pulled up next to or boxed in the victims car, got out of his vehicle and opened fire. Police seem to be very certain that this was not a random shooting. However they are not sure of what exactly took place prior to the incident.
Police were notified by Beaumont Hospital that the four shooting victims were in their emergency room for treatment.
The teens were driven to Beaumont, Grosse Pointe by the uninjured fifth teenager, who is from Grosse Pointe, in a sliver Mercury Milan for treatment. The three survivors are expected to recover.
Authorities are frustrated because the surviving teens have been giving differing accounts of why they were in the area and what actually took place. Police need the survivors to cooperate to get the gunman off the streets.
Demetrius Herndon, 16-years-old, who was one of the victims shot, told Local 4 on December 23rd, 2014 that the attack was random.
Detroit Police James Craig has said that there is more to this story than what is currently known at this time. The investigation is very fluid and ongoing.
