PORTER TOWNSHIP, MI – Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood J.R. reports that his deputies responded to a drowning on Shaveshead Lake at 11:04 P.M. on January 5th, 2015.
Deputies learned that 71-year-old Larry Malsch of Cassopolis and 56-year-old Christopher Habic, also of Cassopolis, were sinking Christmas trees into the lake. The two men were placing the trees in the water to enhance the fishing in that area.
SEPSA medics and the Porter Township Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation.
