DNR to Review Elk Season results, Bass Regulation Changes


LANSING, MI – The Michigan Natural Resources Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, January 15th, 2015 at the Michigan State University Diagnostic Center, 4125 Beaumont Road, in Lansing. DNR

The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a meeting of the Policy Committee on Finance and Administration. The committee will review fiscal year 2014 revenue from last year’s restructuring of Michigan’s hunting and fishing license options, review outcomes of that restructuring, and discuss revenue projections for fiscal year 2015.




At 10 a.m., the Marketing, Partnership, Youth and Outreach Advisory Committee will host a joint meeting with members of the Michigan Travel Commission. The group will look at Department of Natural Resources customer data, as well as DNR and Pure Michigan priorities and marketing goals, and receive an update from Michigan State University’s Sarah Nicholls on the state’s tourism strategic plan.

At 1 p.m., the Policy Committee on Wildlife and Fisheries will review elk season results, discuss recommendations from the Water Use Advisory Council, review public comments received and status of bass regulation changes, and discuss falconry and raptor capture regulations.

The Committee of the Whole meets at 3 p.m. to receive DNR Director Keith Creagh’s report and a legislative update.

Following public comments, Director Creagh is scheduled to announce decisions on the proposed sale of surplus DNR-managed land, proposed wildlife area and state forest land exchanges, and a parks and recreation land acquisition.
