On Tuesday, January 13th, 2015 at approximately 1:09 p.m. Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting the accident.
According to Deputy Kravitsky, a 2000 Nissan Xterra driven by a 54-year-old Brown City woman was westbound on Peck Road near Maple Valley Road when the vehicle she was traveling in left the roadway.
After leaving the roadway the vehicle traveled approximately 300 yards before striking an embankment and going airborne for approximately 35 yards. After going airborne the vehicle landed striking its engine compartment, causing the vehicle to bounce, then strike a tree and come to rest on its tires.
The driver was transported to Marlette Regional Hospital by Marlette EMS and later flown to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The female was wearing her seat-belt and speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Marlette EMS, Brown City Fire Department, and the Brown City Police Department.
