FERNDALE, MI – The U.S. Supreme Court announced that it will determine in what direction the state’s gay marriage ban will be considered on Friday, January 16th, 2015.
The Michigan case, along with the other cases in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Tennessee from the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, could be considered Friday, the traditional conference day for the U.S. Supreme Court.
April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse of Hazel Park have been front and center in their quest to legalize same-sex marriage in the state of Michigan. The court could announce its decision on whether it will proceed with further review and legal arguments in the case possibly at the end of this week.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette believes the ban should remain in place. If this decision is ruled in favor of the nurses, same-sex marriage bans across the country can be over-turned.
