LANSING, MI – A 57-year-old Lansing woman is behind bars today after she was arrested on several felony charges for embezzlement.
Deputies from the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charlene Ann Skinner, 57-years-old, of Lansing, on one count of Embezzlement from a Vulnerable Adult (15yr Felony), one count of Embezzlement over $50,000 but less than $100,000 (15 yr Felony), four counts of Uttering and Publishing (14yr Felony) and one count of Larceny from a Building.
The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office began their investigation in October of 2014 when family members reported several checks missing and cashed by the suspect. Skinner was employed by the victim’s family as a care giver to their elderly mother.
Skinner was also employed by other persons in the community as a home health aide and house keeper.
Skinner is currently being held at the Ingham County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond.
The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging citizens who have elderly family members, to be cognizant of their financial records and report any suspicion of elderly abuse to their local law enforcement agency.
