DEQ schedules Webinar on Beneficial Reuse of Non-Hazardous Industrial By-Products


LANSING, MI – The webinar will explore the environmental and economic benefits of recycling industrial by-products rather than disposing of them in a licensed landfill. DEQ

Duane Roskoskey with DEQ’s Office of Waste Management and Radiological Protection will discuss the recent changes to Part 115, Solid Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended.




Topics will include use of these materials in various construction applications (building and fill), as waste stabilization materials, land application, and as use in soil mixtures (otherwise known as Beneficial Reuse applications, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5).

Additional topics include: Part 201 Liability, surface water considerations, authorizations (current and future), materials approved under the new law (including dredge materials), petitioning the Department for new materials, and Part 115 rule changes.

This webinar is intended to educate generators and brokers of non-hazardous industrial waste, consultants, members of the law profession, and users of industrial by-products.
