ROSEVILLE, MI – Angela Marie Alexie, the Eastpointe woman who gave birth to the baby boy who was discovered in a recycling center in Roseville, was arraigned in 38th District Court in Eastpointe on January 28th, 2015.
The 24-year-old Eastpointe woman, Angela Alexie, was arraigned on first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse charges. The judge set her bond at $1 million.
Both crimes are punishable by life in prison.
The judge, District Judge Carl F. Gerds III, inquired if she were employed and she replied that she had never had a job. She stated that she is homeless and unemployed.
“Technically my current address is nowhere at the moment. I’ve never had a job. Don’t ever really pay my bills,” she said.
A not-guilty plea was entered by the court on her behalf.
The woman has three other children who were removed from her custody before this crime took place. Child Protective Services has had contact with her in the past.
Roseville police say Alexie gave birth to the child on December 22nd, 2014. They assert that she made no effort to protect or care for the child after its birth. Authorities allege the death of the baby was an intentional act. She allegedly kept the baby in a garage until Christmas day, then moved the body to a shed at her parent’s home, in Eastpointe.
Angela Alexie is scheduled to be back in Judge Gerds court on February 4th, 2015.
