LANSING, MI – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will share plans for the upcoming resurfacing project on M-123 in Newberry and discuss a proposed lane configuration change. The project is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2016.
MDOT will resurface 3.5 miles of M-123 from the M-28 intersection to Truman Street in the Village of Newberry in summer 2016. Some curb replacement and drainage improvements will be done in select areas. Pending approval from village and township officials, MDOT will convert a segment of M-123 from Hamilton Lake Road north to the railroad tracks to a three-lane roadway.
Plans call for two lanes with a center left-turn lane in this segment. The conversion is designed to provide a consistent cross-section in the area and improve safety. On-street parking would remain in place.
