Man arrested on Cocaine charge while bailing friend out of Jail

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – A 51-year-old Clinton Township man arrived at the police station to bail his friend out of jail for a DUI charge.  He landed himself behind bars for possessing cocaine.Royal Norton

The Clinton Township Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, February 7th, 2015.

A Clinton Township resident identified as Royal Norton came to their police station to post a $300 bond for a friend who was in custody for OWI.

Mr. Norton presented three $100-bills to the desk officer. In between two of the bills was a small plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance.

After a quick field test on the substance, it tested positive for cocaine. Norton was immediately arrested.  They accepted his money and his friend was then let out on bail.

Authorities also found $4,500 in cash in the man’s wallet.  They are investigating if the cash is connected to the sale of narcotics.
