Construction begins this week to install temporary supports on bridges along I-96


LANSING, MI – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will install temporary supports at the following overpasses along I-96 in Ingham County: Elm Road, Williamston Road, Zimmer Road, Meridian Road and Hagadorn Road. MDOT

The contractor plans to move east to west, with approximately one week of construction needed at each bridge.




During construction, there will be intermittent single-lane and shoulder closures in each direction between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day.

In addition, the following short-term ramp closures will occur at Williamston Road to complete the work:

–     The eastbound I-96 exit ramp (Exit 117B) will be closed, with Williamston Road traffic directed to use eastbound I-96 to southbound Williamston Road (Exit 117A).

–     The northbound Williamston Road loop ramp will be closed, with traffic detoured east on I-96 to M-52 (Exit 122), back to westbound I-96.
