LANSING, MI – Work to install temporary supports at several structures along I-96 in eastern Ingham County is expected to start on Wednesday, February 18. Crews will first begin work at Williamston Road over I-96.
During construction, there will be intermittent single-lane and shoulder closures in each direction on I-96 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. In addition, the following short-term ramp closures will occur at Williamston Road to complete the work:
– The eastbound I-96 exit ramp (Exit 117B) will be closed, with Williamston Road traffic directed to use eastbound I-96 to southbound Williamston Road (Exit 117A).
– The northbound Williamston Road loop ramp will be closed, with traffic detoured east on I-96 to M-52 (Exit 122), back to westbound I-96.
The other structures where work will be taking place include Elm Road, Zimmer Road, Meridian Road and Hagadorn Road. There will be approximately one week of construction needed at each bridge.
All work is weather dependent.
