MDOT UPDATE: I-75 improvements from Dixie Highway to Hess Road rescheduled

LANSING, MI – MDOT has rescheduled the start date for  I-75 improvements from Dixie Highway to Hess Road. Work, which includes closing the King Road bridge over I-75 with traffic rerouted to M-46, was to begin on March 9th and now starts Wednesday, March 4th, 2015.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to begin road MDOTreconstruction and bridge replacement work on I-75 from Dixie Highway to Hess Road in Saginaw County. MDOT will partner with the Saginaw County Road Commission and Buena Vista and Bridgeport township officials to complete the project.

In addition to the road and bridge project, overall work includes temporary widening to add additional lanes during construction, along with drainage improvements and sound wall construction on I-75. The project includes a five-year materials and workmanship pavement warranty.

MDOT provided an opportunity for the public and Buena Vista Township officials to meet MDOT staff to ask questions about the proposed I-75 improvements in July 2014. During this meeting, residents identified in the noise analysis as being voted in favor of a sound wall on the west side of I-75 from 2,500 feet south of Hess Road to Hess Road. After the vote by area residents, area residents were encouraged to choose one of three options for the sound wall design.
