SANILAC COUNTY, MI – On Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015 at approximately 4:30pm Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies responded to a complaint in the 8000 block of Arendt Road in Speaker Township.
Sanilac Central Dispatch had received a 9-1-1 call regarding an intoxicated man who was waving a loaded handgun around inside his residence and threatening other occupants of the house.
According to Sgt. Willis, two of the occupants of the residence left and waited roadside in a vehicle for Deputies to arrive. Phone contact was made with the suspect’s wife who had remained in the residence. Deputies were advised that the suspect had passed out in his bedroom. Deputies then entered the residence and located the 57-year-old Speaker Township man on a bed in the residence. He was placed under arrest and a loaded handgun was located lying underneath him in the bed.
The suspect was transported to McKenzie Hospital for treatment of injuries that occurred in a scuffle prior to Deputies arrival and the threats with the gun. Following treatment the suspect will be lodged in the Sanilac County Jail on charges of Felonious Assault and Possession of a Stolen Handgun.
