Allegan County Triple Murder Suspect Charged on 5 Count Felony Warrant


DORR TOWNSHIP, MI – Detectives met with the Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office and Charges have been filed on the suspect Corey LaValley Sr. Corey Lee LaValley

A 5 count warrant was authorized on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 for 3 counts of open murder, 1 count of arson 2nd degree, and 1 count of felony firearm. The suspect awaits arraignment from the Allegan County Corrections Center.




Detectives believe, through their investigation, that the suspect Corey LaValley went to the residence in Dorr Township sometime Monday evening and shot the three victims. Detectives believe he then returned on Tuesday morning and burned the residence with the deceased victims inside.

The victims were discovered inside a burning home at 2360 Briarwood Ave. in Dorr Twp. on Tueday, March 10th, 2015, around 1pm while fire fighters with the Dorr Twp Fire Dept. and the Salem Twp Fire Dept. were on scene fighting the fire.

Family members identified the victims as Deb Sheppard and two of her children: 12-year-old Emma McComber and Corey LaValley Jr., who was 10.

Corey LaValley Sr., is the ex-boyfriend of Sheppard and his son, Corey LaValley Jr., is among the dead. He is being held in the Allegan County Jail for felony homicide, according to Michigan State Police records.

The investigation is still ongoing as Detectives prepare their case.
