Redford Township Suspect Pleds Guilty in Deadly Crash


REDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI – The suspect who caused the crash that killed 25-year-old Francesca Vitale Weatherhead, at 6 Mile and Beech Daly, in Redford Township, MI has pled guilty.JOHN MCCALLUM III

John McCallum, the suspect in the fatal accident at Six Mile & Beech Daly that killed Francesca Weatherhead pled guilty on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 in Circuit Court to 2nd Degree Murder and Fleeing & Eluding.




The accident scene was horrific to see as it played out during the morning news casts across the metro Detroit Area.

The Redford Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash at 10:15am on October 6th, 2014 at the intersection of 6 Mile and Beech Daly.  One adult woman from Royal Oak, Fransesca Weatherhead, was killed. McCallum was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Francesca WeatherheadBoth vehicles involved in the crash ended up on the front lawn of Our Lady of Loretto Roman Catholic Church.

McCallum was out on parole at the time of the crash.  He was let out on May 6th of 2014 from the Michigan Department of Corrections.

John McCallum III, 27-years-old, was originally charged with Second Degree Murder, Reckless Driving Causing Death, Fleeing Police First Degree, Driving While License Suspended Causing Death, and Attempted Home Invasion. He had also been charged as a Habitual Offender Fourth Offense.

He will be sentenced on March 31st to between 20 and 40 years.
