Attempted Armed Robbery and Shooting in Redford

REDFORD, MI –  The Redford Police Department is investigating a shooting / attempted armed robbery that occurred on April 20th, 2015 in 27100 block of Grand River Avenue.Armed Robbery

The victim was outside of the location at the time of the incident.  The victim was approached by the suspect who produced a handgun and attempted to rob the victim. The victim began to flee on foot and the suspect fired the gun, striking the victim. The suspect entered the passenger side of an older gray Chevrolet Impala, with a hanging taillight and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male 20-26 years old 5’10” 170lbs with a dark complexion and shoulder length braids or dreadlocks.

The victim received a non-life threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

At this time it does not appear the victim was randomly selected for the robbery.
