ALPENA, MI – He was on trial facing 12 counts of criminal sexual conduct (CSC) on teenagers, including at least one under the age of 13, spanning more than a decade. It is alleged that his charges involved at least 6 individuals.
James William Freese, Jr., 41-years-old, according to the complaint he allegedly committed criminal sexual conduct on the victims under the age of 13 in 1992, 2010 and 2012. Other assaults involved older children, and the prosecutor’s office is alleging force was used. The alleged assaults took place in Maple Ridge and Alpena townships.
On Thursday, July 16th, 2015, after three days of testimony during his trial, Freese stopped the proceedings and plead No Contest to 11 of the 12 charges.
He claims to have no recollection of the crimes because he had taken drugs and alcohol, and because some of the assaults were were almost nearly 25 years ago.
James William Freese, Jr. is now scheduled for sentencing on September 8th, 2015.
His father, James Freese, Sr., is facing five counts of criminal sexual conduct (CSC) in the first degree. It is alleged that in one of those counts he had sex with a girl under 13 years of age in 1990. His trial is set for August.
