DNR to auction public land in Roscommon, Charlevoix, Mackinac counties


LANSING, MI – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources on July 22nd, 2015, announced it will offer public land for sale through live auctions in August. auction

Seven auctions of state-managed public land will be held throughout the state at locations in Grayling, Boyne Falls and Sault Ste. Marie (Aug. 3, 4 and 5); in Clare and Rogers City (Aug. 14 and 15), and in Muskegon and Manistee (Aug. 20 and 22). More detailed information about each auction will be released separately prior to each one.




The DNR is preparing the following properties for sale at auction Aug. 3-5:

Aug. 3: Roscommon County (one property in Markey Township)
The Markey Township property is located about 14 miles northeast of the city of Houghton Lake, between Houghton and Higgins lakes, and is 20 acres in size.

  • Live auction begins Monday, Aug. 3, at noon at the Ramada Inn, 2650 I-75 Business Loop, in Grayling.
  • Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.

Aug. 4: Charlevoix County (seven properties in Saint James Township)
The Saint James Township properties are located on the northern part of Beaver Island, about 32 miles northwest of the city of Charlevoix. The offered properties range between 0.28 acres and 1.43 acres in size.

  • Live auction begins Tuesday, Aug. 4, at noon at Boyne Mountain Resorts – Matterhorn Rooms A & B, 1 Boyne Mountain Road, in Boyne Falls.
  • Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.

Aug. 5: Mackinac County (three properties in Portage Township)
The Portage Township properties are located on South Manistique Lake, about 5 miles southwest of the village of Curtis. The offered properties range between 0.31 acres and 0.62 acres in size and have lake frontage.

  • Live auction begins Wednesday, Aug. 5, at noon at the Kewadin Casino – Grand Ballroom, 2186 Shunk Road, in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Registration begins at 11:30 am.
