TAYLOR, MI – A 19-year-old man from Lincoln Park was involved in a two car accident on I-75 near Sibley Road in Taylor on Friday evening, July 24th, 2015. It was his decision after the car crash to cross the freeway that ended his life.
The young man pulled over and stopped his car on the left shoulder of the roadway while the other vehicle pulled over and stopped on the right shoulder of the road. The 19-year-old made the decision to cross the freeway to see if the driver of the other vehicle was alright after the initial crash.
It was at that time that a woman from Virginia accidentally hit him with her car as he tried to cross the freeway. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary beliefs are that alcohol may have played a factor in the teens decision to cross the freeway in traffic.
The freeway was shut down for about three hours while troopers investigated the scene. The female driver from Virginia voluntarily submitted to be tested for the presence of alcohol or drugs in her system.
