HUBBARD LAKE, MI – The early morning fire started around 5a.m. on Sunday, August 30th, 2015 at 14502 Hubbard Lake Rd, Hubbard Lake, Michigan at the Cedar Grove Bar and Grill. Fire investigators with Michigan State Police examined the scene and have ruled the fire to be arson.
It is believed that the fire was set to cover up a break-in. Michigan State Police from the Alpena post said a considerable amount of cash and coins were stolen from the office area of the building.
There was a heavy metal music festival at a park about 1/4 mile away the night of the fire. Michigan State Police say the festival was well attended. Those in attendance of the festival stayed until the early morning hours. Authorities believe there is a possibility someone from the festival was involved.
Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect or suspects involved.
