FLINT, MI – On Tuesday, September 1st, 2015, at approximately 1:45a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Avenue A for a shooting.
Officers discovered a deceased adult at that location. A Flint Police Lieutenant attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the area and the vehicle fled. The Lieutenant pursued the vehicle until the two suspects in the homicide exited the vehicle and fled on foot. One of these subjects was arrested at that time.
The Detective Bureau continued the investigation throughout the day and developed information which led them to the identity and location of the second suspect.
In support of the Detective Bureau’s investigation, the Flint Police Department Tactical Team executed multiple search warrants in the evening of September 1st, 2015. During the execution of these warrants, the second suspect was arrested and the search of these locations produced narcotics and one firearm.
Two subjects have been charged and arraigned for the murder of Antieno Smith, 46-years-old.
Mark Jones , 44-years-old, has been charged and arraigned in this case for 1st Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Discharge of Firearm from a Vehicle Causing Death, Discharge of Firearm in or at a Building, Tampering with Evidence in a Criminal Case, 3rd Degree Fleeing Police Officer, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.
Jones has an extensive criminal record based on information from the Michigan Department of Corrections. He was on probation at the time of the murder. His previous convictions have been for:
- Controlled Substance-Possess Narcotic/Cocaine < 25 Grams
- Possess of Narcotic Drug or Cocaine
- Controlled Substance-Possession Of Marijuana
- Weapons – Carrying Concealed
- Police Officer – Assault/Resist/Obstruct
Bruce Dickerson, 49-years-old, has been charged and arraigned in this case for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.
