FLINT, MI – In September of 2012, an adult female resident of the city of Flint reported to authorities that she had been beaten, choked and raped at knife point.
On September 18th, 2015, Marcel Jerome Robinson was found guilty in a jury trial conducted in Michigan’s 07th Circuit Court on multiple counts.
The victim was visiting Robinson at his home in Flint when the two got into an argument. That argument turned into an assault and ultimately a sexual assault.
The victim went to Hurley Medical Center to report the incident and seek treatment. At the hospital, a rape kit was performed, according to the release.
That sexual assault kit remained untested until this year when the television show “Cold Justice” offered to review and provide funding for the testing. A total of 71 rape kits were sent for analysis.
An analysis of one of those criminal sexual assault kits was made and that analysis provided the evidence necessary to charge Marcel Jerome Robinson, 25-years-old, with Criminal Sexual Assault in the First Degree, Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Penetration, Unlawful Imprisonment and Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder.
Robinson will be sentenced October 19th, 2015. He faces up to life in prison.
