LANSING, MI – The Michigan Historical Records Advisory Board is partnering with the National Historical Publications and Records Administration to offer re-grants to smaller Michigan historical organizations and institutions that preserve archival records.
The “Save Michigan History” grant program will offer awards up to $2,500 to preserve and make records accessible to the public.

“The diverse stories of Michigan are not saved in one museum or archives, but in hundreds of organizations and institutions across the state,” said Mark Harvey, state archivist of Michigan. “There is an expectation that historical records be available, but few people understand the challenges in finding funding to preserve and make these records accessible.”
The Michigan State Historical Records Board, appointed by the governor, serves as a central advisory body for historical records planning and for National Historical Publications and Records Commission-funded projects in the state.
The board acts as a coordinating body working in conjunction with the Archives of Michigan to facilitate cooperation and communication among historical records repositories and information agencies within the state. It also serves as a state-level review body for grant proposals that meet National Historical Publications and Records Commission grant program guidelines.
The Michigan Historical Center is part of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Its museum and archival programs help people discover, enjoy and find inspiration in their heritage.
