ALPENA, MI – In a not so surprising turn of events, Loco Burrito in Alpena has closed.Loco Burrito

The building located at 1120 S. State Ave once again has a large For Lease sign attached to the front of the building.

Loco Burrito Mexican Restaurant opened for business in April of 2014.  Business was brisk in the beginning but that did not last.

It had been evident in keeping an eye on the parking lot when passing by that the restaurant was failing.  One could also tell by the various specials that would be posted on the marquee that problems were prevailing.

Originally the Kentucky Motor Inn operated at that location for a long time.  The building then became Hunan Chinese Restaurant for many years.  Once Hunan moved out to the old Best Western Four Seasons Inn located at 1283 M-32 West,  the building went through many months of renovations.

Loco Burrito was the second Mexican food themed restaurant to occupy the space since it went through major building renovations in 2012.

Los Cuatro Amigos opened to great anticipation in 2013.  Area residents had waited patiently while the opening date kept being pushed back.  Finally after many many months of waiting, it was open.  Business appeared to be steady in the beginning for that restaurant as well.  But then it was very noticeable that the parking lot was remaining empty for the lack of customers too.

Loco Burrito also saw competition come in not far from their location when Mango’s Mexican Cuisine opened in the Thunder Bay Shopping Center at 2205 US Highway 23 South.  Currently this Mexican restaurant appears to be attracting customers.
