UPDATE: M-14 Crash Victim Identified
SALEM TOWNSHIP, MI – Both directions of M-14 were shutdown at Gotfredson Road, exit 15, due to a fatal crash in Washtenaw County.
Two vehicles were involved in a horrific crash that has taken the life of man. Three other people were also injured in the accident.
There were two men in a Honda Civic and a 43-year-old Beverly Hills woman and her daughter were in a Acura RDX. The man who died was a 22-year-old West Bloomfield man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Police are awaiting autopsy results before releasing the name of a 22-year-old man who was killed.
A 23-year-old passenger who was in the Honda Civic is in critical condition at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor.
The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27th, 2015.
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s spokesperson Derrick Jackson said it started when one driver lost control and veered head-on into oncoming traffic.
An eastbound vehicle crossed into westbound traffic and hit the other vehicle head-on. The eastbound vehicle was cut in half and scattered across the roadway.
Eastbound M-14 at Gotfredson Rd, exit 15, reopened as of 6:00 p.m. Westbound M-14 reopened as of 7:30 p.m.
Police have not said if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash
