DETROIT, MI – The obvious change in Wayne County Administration from Bob Ficano to Warren Evans was felt on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 when it was announced that money would be allocated to test rape kits that had sat for years untested in a warehouse in Detroit.Wayne County Rape Kit announcement

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy had been at odds with the Ficano administration about how to deal with all of the untested sexual assault kits.  Bob Ficano kept cutting the prosecuting attorney’s budget.  Worthy had to find the money from donations while Ficano was in office.

Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans announced today that although the County is managing its financial rebound, he has identified $1 million to dedicate to Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy’s office to help investigate backlogged rape kits.

Evans has been working to dig Wayne County out of the large financial hole that Bob Ficano made with his mismanagement.
