GREENLEAF TOWNSHIP, MI – The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office investigated an animal neglect case in the 2000 block of Huron Line Road in Greenleaf Township.
According to Detective/Sgt. Nate Smith, the investigation started on Monday, November 2nd, 2015 when Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office met with concerned citizens about possible animal neglect taking place at the Huron Line Road residence in Greenleaf Township.
Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office along with Sanilac-Tuscola Counties’ Animal Control, acting on the information and professional Veterinary evaluation, executed a search warrant at the address on Thursday, November 5th, 2015.
Investigators and Animal Control Officers during the search warrant took into custody six adult female dogs and twenty-eight puppies. The dogs were removed from the home and are being held at the Sanilac County Humane Society.
The case remains under investigation and warrant requests are being forwarded to the Sanilac County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
