GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids Police are investigating the murder of a 31-year-old woman who was shot to death. She has been identified as Melissa Doris Moore, from Holland, MI.
The incident occurred around 4:10 a.m. on Friday, November 6th, 2015, in the area of Knapp and Truxton NE. City workers were ones to notify 9-1-1 that a shooting had just occurred.
A street sweeping crew found the victim, Melissa Moore, and they may have witnessed some, if not all, of what transpired in her murder.
Upon arrival, police found Moore to be lying in the road shot to death. Early reports indicated that the street sweeping crew were clearing debris from the roadway when they saw an unknown subject shoot Melissa Moore. That person then fled in a black Cadillac.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police Department checked an address in the 1100 block of Heron Ct. NE for a subject that they believed was located at that location.
After hours of verbal announcements, apartment evacuations and a concentrated police presence, the homicide suspect was not located.
Police could be heard calling for a Jermaine Cooper to come out a residence. Authorities would not comment on who that man is or if he is a suspect in the murder. Police did execute a search warrant at the apartment complex.
Investigators have not released any information about the suspect they are searching for.
No one is currently in custody at this time for the murder of Melissa Moore.
