LANSING, MI – Gov. Rick Snyder joins President Barack Obama’s call to lower Michigan and U.S. flags to half-staff today through sunset on Monday, December 7th, 2015, in honor of the victims of the December 2nd, 2015, shootings in San Bernardino, Calif.
“I, along with all Michiganders, mourn the loss of 14 innocent lives in this senseless act of violence,” Snyder said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families during this troubling time.”
Snyder also sends his thoughts and prayers to the injured victims who remain in the hospital and the families and friends of all affected by this senseless act.
Michigan residents, businesses, schools, local governments and other organizations are encouraged to display the flag at half-staff. Flags should be returned to full-staff on Tuesday, December 8.
When flown at half-staff or half-mast, the U. S. flag should be hoisted first to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff or half-mast position. The flag should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
