SPEAKER TOWNSHIP, MI – On Saturday, December 5th, 2015, at approximately 4:19 p.m., Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting an injury accident involving two vehicles at the intersection of M-19 and Galbraith Line Road in Speaker Township.
According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a 1994 Ford pickup, driven by 75-year-old Robert Partlo, of Yale, was traveling South on M-19 and attempted to turn East on Galbraith Line Road.
Partlo struck a 2002 Trailblazer driven by 31-year-old Scott Bennett, of Port Huron, who was traveling North on M-19.
Bennett’s vehicle left the roadway and struck two trees where the driver was pinned in and had to be freed by Speaker Fire Jaws Of Life.
Both drivers were injured in the crash. Bennett was transported to McKenzie Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries by Marlette EMS and Partlo sought his own treatment.
According to witnesses, it appears speed was a factor in the accident and is still under investigation. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Sanilac County Deputies were assisted at the scene by Speaker Fire and Marlette EMS.
