St. Clair County Sheriff Seeking Information in Fatal Crash

PORT HURON TOWNSHIP, MI – The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a fatal car-pedestrian crash that occurred early Sunday morning, December 6th, pedestrian accident

According to Sheriff Tim Donnellon, Michael Cope, 34-years-old, of Avoca, was struck and killed on Griswold Road, west of Michigan Road at about 3:30 a.m. The vehicle that struck Cope was heading westbound on Griswold. After striking Cope, the vehicle left the scene of the crash.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit and Detective Bureau are investigating the crash. At this time, no information is known about the driver or the vehicle. Investigators are asking that anyone seeing anything unusual, such as a person cleaning the undercarriage of their vehicle, to contact Detective Eric Stevens at (810)-987-1726.

Marysville Police, Port Huron Township Fire and Rescue and Tri-Hospital EMS assisted at the scene of the crash.
