MSP Trooper Hurt in Detroit Crash

DETROIT, MI – A Michigan State Police Trooper sustained minor injuries from a vehicle crash that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 9th, 2015.MSP

The accident happened at the intersection of Fenkell and St. Marys streets, on Detroit’s west side, around 2:20 a.m. The trooper involved in the accident was on his way to assist another trooper, with his partner, on a traffic stop when an SUV ran a flashing red light, broad siding the police cruiser.

The officer and the driver of the SUV were both taken to the hospital for minor injuries.  They have both since been released.

The driver of the SUV was taken into custody on previous warrants but will have to face a judge following the accident.  It is believed that drugs may have been a factor in the crash.
