37 yr Old Man Killed in Clinton TWP Hit and Run Crash

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – A Clinton Township man was killed on Thursday, December 10th, 2015, by a hit and run driver.Joseph Perry

Police are actively searching for the person who hit a 37-year-old man, Joseph Perry, just after 2:30 a.m. on Garfield Road between 17 and 18 mile roads, then fled the scene.

Perry was hit by two cars. The driver of the first vehicle that struck the victim did not stop. The second driver, who was on her way home from work, remained stopped at the scene.

Clinton Township Police are asking for assistance in locating the hit-and-run driver. Anyone who may have seen the accident and has information, or sees a car with front-end damage or damage to the windshield should call Clinton Township Police at (586)-493-7894.

Joseph Harold Perry, age 37, a resident of Clinton Township, Michigan passed on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born on February 11, 1978 in Detroit, MI to Laura Ann (nee Dubois) and the late Harold Joseph Perry. 

After graduating from Clintondale High School in 1997, Joseph proudly served in the United States Army. He served as a specialist in Korea until his discharge in 1999. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family, especially when it came to visits with his niece or nephews or the family game nights. He could often be found watching his favorite movies, reading comics, or gaming online. 

He will be forever missed by his mother Laura (Dale) Manglos, siblings; twin James Perry, Jonathan (Kristen) Perry, Joshua Perry, Kathleen Perry, and Jennifer Zhuel, maternal grandmother Kathleen (Gary) Pinkley, niece Auden, nephews Nathan, Jack, and Chase, and long-time friend Greg Witt. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Walter Dubois. 

Visitation will be held in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mount Clemens, MI on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. with a 6:00p.m. prayer service. A Funeral Mass with military honors will be celebrated on Monday, December 14, 2015 at St. Ronald Catholic Church, 17701 – 15 Mile Road, Clinton Twp., with Fr. Dan Fox officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to his mother Laura to assist with funeral expenses.
