DETROIT, MI – Construction on the new $627 million Red Wings arena is moving along at a quick pace and will gain speed throughout the winter months.
The arena will be formally known as the Detroit Events Center when it is completed. This project is expected to be a game changer for Detroit and its economic outlook.
Over $52 million in construction contracts for the new Detroit arena were awarded to Detroit and Michigan Companies the week of December 21st, 2015.
The Detroit Events Center is scheduled to open in September of 2017. It will become part of The District Detroit which will be made up of a mix of sports and entertainment venues, including six world-class theaters and three multi-use sports venues – home to the Detroit Red Wings, the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions.
The District Detroit will also feature residential, office and retail developments that connect into one contiguous, walkable area.
