SPRINGFIELD, MI – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an assault complaint that was reported on January 15th, 2016 at approximately 9:00 a.m.
The victim came to the CCSD Springfield Detachment and stated that she had been threatened with a firearm and held against her will while being assaulted. The assault was alleged to have occurred in the first block of Greenbriar Lane in the Wyndtree Town Homes in the City of Springfield.
The victim advised that she thought that a portion of the assault had been video recorded on a cell phone by one of the perpetrators.
A search warrant was executed at the residence by the Calhoun County Special Response Team on January 15th, 2016 at approximately 3:00 p.m. Two male suspects were located inside the apartment and an additional male suspect was located outside. A search of the residence uncovered marijuana, prescription pills and firearms. Warrants are being sought against a 24-year-old male resident for Felonious Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Unlawful Imprisonment and Larceny. Warrants are being sought against a second 22-year-old male resident for Possession of a Short-Barreled Shotgun, Possession With Intent to Deliver Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
A portion of the assault of the victim was discovered on one of the suspect’s cell phones. Warrants are being sought against this 20-year-old male resident for Obstructing a Criminal Investigation, False Imprisonment and Assault & Battery.
The investigation is continuing as additional suspects are being identified.
