BAD AXE, MI – Last evening, Tuesday, February 9th, 2016, around 7:00 p.m., as the result of a lengthy investigation, deputies from the Huron County Sheriff’s Department arranged for an undercover marijuana purchase that took place at a business on the north end of Bad Axe.
The suspect in the controlled buy, Matthew J. Chabot, 24-years-old, of Harbor Beach, was arrested shortly thereafter for felony delivery charges. Chabot’s vehicle was also seized, as well as a small amount of cash. This then led to an execution of a search warrant at his apartment in the Harbor House Apartments in Harbor Beach.
That same complex has also been the scene of other unrelated search warrant executions by the Sheriff’s office and the Harbor Beach Police over the last twelve months, which have consisted of heroin, morphine, OxyContin and marijuana.
Seized from Mr. Chabot’s apartment were hundreds of prescription pain relieving pills, marijuana, marijuana oil, packaging materials and a scale.
He was arraigned this afternoon in the 73B District Court and remains lodged on a $10,000 cash bond. The Huron County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Harbor Beach City Police and the Bad Axe City Police.
