SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, MI – The identity of the man killed in a single motorcycle accident has been released by the Huron County Sheriff’s office.
This morning, Sunday, April 17th, 2016, at 6:30 a.m., The Huron County Sheriff’s Department responded to McTaggart Rd., about a half mile west of Bad Axe Rd. in Sheridan Twp.,where a single vehicle motorcycle accident had occurred.
The victim, Herbert E. Engler, 58-years-old, of Bad Axe, was found by another resident of Bad Axe on his way to work. He immediately called 911 to report the accident.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the Herbert Engler was eastbound when his Harley Davidson left the roadway and entered the north side ditch, which resulted in the motorcycle flipping over and ejecting its operator.
The exact time of the accident is not known but it is believed to have occurred several hours earlier.
Accident investigators from Huron County Sheriff’s office processed the scene. The Huron County Medical Examiners Office was on scene and has ordered an autopsy, which as of press time was unknown when that will occur.
The investigation is ongoing.
Other agencies assisting at the scene were the Bingham Ambulance Service and the Bingham Fire Department.
