GAINES TOWNSHIP, MI – The Kent County Sheriff’s Office investigated a suspicious situation that was said to have occurred near Parkbrook and Division in Gaines Township.
A 10-year-old female said she was waiting for the school bus at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016, when she decided to play in a nearby creek. She said a middle-aged male wearing a mask approached her and forced her into a white pick-up truck with a “cover.”
She said the male drove her around for about an hour before she was able to escape from the vehicle near the McDonald’s on 68th Street and 131 and run home. Our dispatch received a phone call from the mother at 9:24 a.m.
After further investigation, the girl admitted that she made up the story because she did not want to get in trouble for missing the bus.
