On Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a Stranger Danger incident; possible Child Abduction.

The report was filed by a 14-year-old boy and his parents. The teen reported that as he was walking home at approximately 2:30pm on Burgandy Street in Macomb Township he was approached by a white vehicle; a black male exited and grabbed the 14-year-old by his arm. The boy was able to break free and ran home. He was not injured.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham has reported that the individual who was the subject of the complaint has been identified.

“He came to our Department voluntarily after seeing media coverage of the incident.  The man, a resident who lives in the neighborhood near where the incident occurred described the interaction with the youth and we are satisfied that there was no assault and no attempt to abduct the child,” Wickersham said.

The 70 year-old man from Macomb Township said he was driving past the teen who was walking in the roadway with headphones on.  As the man drove past the boy, he tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.

The sheriff’s office has determined that there has been no criminal conduct and there will be no criminal charges.

Detectives have spoken with the parents of the 14-year-old boy and they are aware that the man has been identified and the circumstances of the man’s interaction with their son.
