HAZEL PARK, MI – The man who has admitted to the murder of Jessica White was arraigned today, Thursday, May 5th, 2016 in Hazel Park District Court.
Jordan McClanahan, 23-years-old, of Hazel Park, was formally charged today with first-degree murder. He is also facing a desecration of a body charge.
During his court hearing he admitted to being high on multiple drugs and alcohol when he murdered Jessica White. “The evening I picked her up I had been taking medication, OxyContin and Xanax and mixed it up with some Wellbutrin and ibuprofen. I went to a party store and we were drinking…” At that point the judge stopped McClanahan and suggested he not say anything further without first consulting with an attorney. McClanahan requested a court appointed lawyer.
McClanahan has confessed to strangling his friend with a belt and cutting the tips of her fingers off with bolt cutters before he hid her body in the attic of his home. After police located the woman’s body they told family members that she was unrecognizable. The autopsy revealed that her body was violated physically and sexually after she was killed.
Jessica White, 21-years-old, of Troy, was reported missing by her mother Saturday, April 23rd, 2016. Jordan McClanahan had known White since grade school, according to family. The two had been friends since they were 8 years old. Photos of White and McClanahan together can be seen on his Facebook page.
He is being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail pending a May 17 probable cause hearing and a May 24 preliminary examination.
If convicted, Jordan McClanahan is facing a mandatory life in prison without parole sentence.
