FRANKENMUTH TOWNSHIP, MI – On Sunday, May 8th, 2016, at 5:44am, the Frankenmuth Police, Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response were dispatched to a traffic accident with a subject trapped in the car on Gera near Roedel Rd. located in Frankenmuth Township just north of town.
Upon arrival, an unresponsive male was extricated from the vehicle by the Frankenmuth Fire Department.
Initial investigation indicates this was a single vehicle accident which was not witnessed by anyone. The accident was believed to have been called in by a passing motorist which did not stay at the scene. A dark colored Chrysler 300 driven by a 31-year-old Burt man was northbound on Gera when his vehicle crossed the southbound lane and entered the ditch on the west side of Gera just north of Roedel Rd.
Further investigation indicates this was the second collision which this driver was involved in. The first collision was on Gera/ Main just north of Vates Street. The vehicle was northbound and crossed the two southbound lanes and struck a tree on the west side of the road in front of Mike Youngs. The vehicle then re-entered the road and continued northbound until the second collision at Roedel Rd.
The unresponsive 31-year-old Burt man was transported to a Saginaw Area Hospital by MMR with serious injuries. The investigation remains open at this time and the road has been re-opened. FPD is asking for anyone who may have witnessed this traffic accident to contact FPD or Saginaw County Central Dispatch.
