Wanted Fugitive Captured in Ionia County

IONIA, MI – On Sunday, May 8th, 2016 deputies received a tip from a concerned citizen that a wanted fugitive was hiding out in the 100 block of E Main St in the City of Ionia. Robert D Starkey

The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office secured a search warrant for the residence and located the wanted fugitive. While executing the search warrant for the wanted fugitive, deputies located drug paraphernalia in the residence. A second search warrant was obtained and upon execution of that search warrant, several methamphetamine lab components were located.

The fugitive, Robert D. Starkey, 26 years old, from Ionia, has been lodged on his outstanding warrants. The case is still under investigation involving the methamphetamine lab components.

Prior to his arrest, he was listed with the Michigan Department of Corrections as an Absconder from Probation.  He has previous convictions for:

  • Controlled Substance-Possession of Methamphetamine – Attempt
  • Controlled Substance-Possess Analogues
  • Controlled Substance-Possess Narcotic/Cocaine < 25 Grams
  • Police Officer – Fleeing – Fourth Degree – Vehicle Code

Starkey’s crimes date back to 2008.

Assisting on scene was the Central Michigan Enforcement Team, Ionia Public Safety, and the Ionia County Central Dispatch.
