PORT HURON TOWNSHIP, MI – The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is investigating the death of a 2 ½ month old baby girl.
According to Sheriff Tim Donnellon, deputies received a call of a baby not breathing in the 4100 block of Dove Road in Port Huron Township shortly after 3:00 a.m. on May 12th, 2016. The deputies responded to the home, along with Marysville Police, Port Huron Township Fire and Rescue and Tri-Hospital EMS.
The 33 year old father of the child told deputies that the baby had been to the doctor’s office Wednesday for a checkup. The child was put in her bed about 11:00 p.m. last night. When the father woke up at about 3:00 a.m., he checked on the child, discovered she wasn’t breathing and called 911.
The girl was transported to Lake Huron Medical Center by Tri-Hospital EMS, where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident. No cause or manner of death has been determined. No foul play is suspected at this time.
The St. Clair County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy this weekend.
