HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies were investigating a suspicious vehicle that had been parked overnight on the shoulder of the roadway near Jada Drive and Zander Lane at 5:15 a.m. on Monday, May 16th, 2016.
A 17-year-old male, who is a resident of White Lake Township, was found to be sleeping inside of the vehicle. The vehicle had an improper registration plate and was unregistered with the Michigan Secretary of State. The teen was secured in the back seat of a patrol vehicle while the Deputies conducted their investigation.
Deputies ascertained that the subject had recently purchased the vehicle from a local used car lot and had failed to register the vehicle.
While getting the 17-year-old out of the back seat of the patrol vehicle he became aggressive and began punch and kicking at Deputies. The subject failed to comply with the Deputy’s verbal commands and attempts to regain control of the subject failed. A taser was deployed to regain control of the teen.
He was subsequently handcuffed and arrested for Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer.
There were no injuries to the responding Deputies and the subject was medically cleared for incarceration.
The subject was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.
